Artist Statement
In 2006, I began a series of paintings and collages entitled "Patricia Marie" — an homage to a fishing vessel that sank during a storm in the mid 1970's. It was my first winter in Provincetown, and I was acquainted with several of Patricia Marie's crew. All of them perished, and I have been moved to commemorate 30+ years since their passing. My 2007 solo show at Lyman-Eyer Gallery was dedicated in its entirety to the loss of the Patricia Marie and her crew. While this particular series is an homage, ultimately, I hope my work looks toward the hopeful.

More recently, I have noticed in my studio, a more open, even atmospheric take in my work, as if there is change swirling around that has not yet quite been realized. While it is familiar to work I did in the late 70's it is now somehow different, as I revisit my past.

Veil Series
In this new series begun in 2007, the veil-like imagery in my new pictures gives the illusion of having a foreground, middle ground and background without the necessity of a horizon. The veils create light, form, and contrast while maintaining the landscape and seascape themes.
